Following the project “Voices of young immigrants – inclusion in education, work and society”, which was part of the Icelandic presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2023, the work on paving the way for more inclusive communities continues.

On 10th December, the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) II survey, conducted by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), was published. Results show that the Nordic and Baltic countries score high, yet there are still important lessons to be learned. Lifelong learning seems to be part of the answer.

Minister of Education Kari Nessa Nordtun presented the European Language Award to NAV Frogner during an Erasmus+ seminar in Bergen. The winning project aims to provide adults, with immigrant or refugee backgrounds, with additional language support in the workplace.

NVL presented current initiatives on the topic of Sustainable Development in Adult Learning during Nordic Summer University’s Winter Symposium on February 16-18 in Odense, Denmark.

An international expert hearing on successful approaches to adult literacy and basic skills was held on February 22 and 23 in Berlin. NVL presented Nordic and national initiatives that aim at getting adults and young people digitally included.
