Cookie and Privacy Policy
General
This privacy policy applies to the NLL website, nll.org. The guidelines are prepared based on the EU General Data Protection Regulation, which applies in Denmark from May 25, 2018, as well as the new Danish Data Protection Act, which supplements the rules in the Data Protection Regulation and the current personal data law (collectively “applicable legislation”). Below, you can read about the information collected, including how the information is processed, what it is used for, and who you can contact if you have questions about the collected information.
Collection of personal information
Information about your computer’s hardware (electronic content but not data) and software is automatically collected by NLL when you visit the website. This information may include: your IP address, browser type, domain name, visit times, and addresses of external referring websites. NLL also collects anonymous demographic information that is not unique to you as a person. This includes your zip code, age, gender, preferences, interests, and favorites. This information is used by NLL to operate this service/website, to maintain quality, and to provide general statistics regarding the use of the NLL website. When you sign up for an event or register on the website, NLL collects personal information, such as your name, email, sector, country, etc.
NOTE: NLL does not read or monitor your private online communications.
NLL encourages you to review information about handling of private data on the external websites you choose to link to (create shortcuts to) from the NLL website. We recommend this so that you understand how these other external websites collect and use your personal information and data. NLL is never responsible for the content and processing of personal information on websites outside of NLL and any websites belonging to NLL.
Use of your personal information
NLL collects and uses your personal information to manage the operation of the NLL website and thereby provide the services you request. NLL also uses personally identifiable information to inform you about other products and services available through NLL and its partners. NLL may also contact you via surveys to conduct measurements regarding your opinion and personal attitude toward existing and potential new services that we may offer. Information collected about participants in events is also used for an annual report to the Nordic Council of Ministers, which funds NLL’s activities. Under no circumstances will NLL sell, rent, lease or disclose its customer list to third parties. NLL may, from time to time, contact you on behalf of external business associates about special offers that may be of interest to you. In this case, your unique personal and identifiable information (email, name, address, telephone number) will NOT be disclosed to third parties. In addition to this, NLL may share data with trusted partners for statistical analysis, send you emails or postal mail, provide customer support, or arrange deliveries. All such third parties are legally bound to use your personal information only to provide services for NLL.
NLL ensures the security of your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. NLL secures the personal and identifiable information that you provide to our servers.
The NLL website will disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law or comply with legal process served on NLL’s website; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of NLL; and (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of NLL’s website or the public.
Use of Cookies
The NLL website uses “cookies” to help you personalize your online experience. A cookie is a text file that is placed on your hard disk by a web server. Cookies cannot be used to execute programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Cookies are uniquely assigned to you and can only be read by a web server in the domain that issued the cookies to you. One of the primary functions of cookies is to save you time. The purpose of a cookie is to tell the web server that you have returned to a specific web page. For example, if you personalize NLL web pages, or register with the NLL website or services, a cookie helps NLL to recall your specific information on subsequent visits. This simplifies the process of recording your personal information, such as billing addresses, shipping addresses, etc. When you return to the same NLL website, the information you previously provided can be retrieved, so you can easily use the NLL features you personalized. You have the option to accept or decline cookies. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. If you choose to decline cookies, you may not be able to fully experience the interactive features of the NLL website.
Insight into personal information
As a user of NLL’s website, you always have the right to have personal information about yourself deleted without undue delay if NLL no longer has a legitimate interest in storing your personal information. Please note that if NLL is required by applicable law to retain the information, you cannot demand that your personal information be deleted.
Changes to the processing of personal information
We reserve the right to update and change these privacy policies. If the policies change, the “last updated” date at the bottom of the page will be updated. NLL recommends periodically reviewing this policy to be informed about how NLL protects your information.
