The project SmartFood encourages sustainable living by providing learning opportunities and high-quality technology for individuals willing to engage in green transition.
Ewa Duda from Maria Grzegorzewska University received the award on behalf of Smartfood.

- We need to think of a new approach to learning, and this is what we did in the SmartFood project, said Ewa Duda about the project which encouraged people to produce food locally.
The prize artwork was created by an artist and a learner at Southern Helsinki’s adult education centre, managed by the KVS Foundation.
The Award ceremony was part of the EAEA Annual Conference, which was organised in Helsinki, on June 11-12. The theme of this year’s conference was the transformative power of adult education. EAEA has worked with this theme for several years, and the organisation experiences the need to unite forces in Europe and globally and talk about the importance of adult education and educators when it comes to influencing communities, people and societies.
- It is important to be engaged in social change and green transition not only in election times but continuously, pointed out Robbie Guevara, President of ICAE in his opening address.
Adult learning plays a key role in empowering people and for enlightenment, and thus, influences people’s decisions in elections and in decisive transformations during their lifetime.
- Adult education is crucial for guiding collective efforts for social inclusion and sustainable development, stressed Tarja Halonen, former President of the Republic of Finland in her keynote speech.
The message from the conference is that only by engaging everyone with the help of learning, can we change societies, which is why it is so essential to continue supporting, developing and investing in adult education.
