Nordic Network for Lifelong Learning

The Nordic Network for Lifelong Learning (NLL) supports Nordic cooperation in policy development and implementation regarding lifelong learning and competence development. NLL is a collaborative platform for adult education providers and policy makers. NLL builds interdisciplinary networks across all the Nordic countries, focusing on the priorities of the Nordic Council of Ministers. More about NLL here.

In 2026, the Nordic-Baltic PIAAC Network will continue its work on strengthening the evidence base for adult learning and skills policies in the region. Two key activities are planned for the coming year: the publication of a new Nordic-Baltic thematic PIAAC report and the organisation of a Nordic-Baltic PIAAC Conference in Finland.

On March 19, the advisory board of the Future Skills – Bridging the Competence Gap project met in Copenhagen to compare Nordic approaches to skills anticipation and tripartite reskilling for the green transition.

By mid-October 2025, more than 2,600 skills badges have been registered in the Finnish national database called Koski. The purpose of the badges is to recognise informal and non-formal learning in areas such as communication, digital security and everyday finances. An increasing number of organisations in non-formal adult education are now starting to put the badge system to the test.
