On 17 June 2025, NLL took part in the Lifelong Learning Congress in Arnhem, the Netherlands. The congress gathered over 400 participants from further education institutions, public authorities, and the private sector at the unique and green venue of Burgers’ Zoo.
The programme was structured around three thematic tracks:
- Strategies for impactful lifelong learning as a driver of a sustainable labour market.
- Offerings to support future-proof development of individuals, teams, organisations, and sectors.
- Strengthening collaboration between education and employers.
The Nordic model of stakeholder collaboration sparked particular interest. NLL shared experiences from across the Nordic region, including Iceland’s approach to workplace certification (fagbrev på jobb) and Norway’s industry programmes (bransjeprogram).
Making general competences visible was another issue that the participants wanted to dig deeper into. How to ensure quality and acceptance was the key question raised during the NLL session. The session was an excellent opportunity to showcase learning examples and disseminate NLL work on making all competences visible.
