In the first part of the episode, the overall frame of and findings from the investigation on microcredentials are presented by Bodil Lomholt Husted, who has led the investigation. In the second part, Thomas Nylund talks about the results of a Swedish pilot project on microcredentials.
Bodil Lomholt Husted has conducted the investigation in cooperation with the network members of the NLL, Expert Network for Validation. She was herself a member of the Expert Network, from 2016-2023, as one of the Danish representatives in the Network for VIA University College, Denmark, where she has held a position as Associate Professor and, from 2016-2019, Head of Research Centre for Validation of Prior Learning. In her carrier, lifelong learning has been a primary area of interest and work. Bodil furthermore holds a master’s degree in Adult Learning and Pedagogy.
Dr. hc, MSE Thomas Nylund is working on consultancy basis as senior advisor and developer for Sobona, the Swedish Employers Association for Municipal Enterprises. Here he is works with development and quality assurance of the Sobona validation model. The model is currently covering 39 professional roles in seven different industrial sectors. Dr. Nylund is also Chair of the Sobona National Board for Quality Assurance in Validation. He has also acted as Process Manager for Sobona’s part in the Kompetenspasset-project (Competence Passport), coordinated by RISE, Myndigheten för yrkeshögskolan och Arbetsförmedlingen med finansiering av Vinnova. The pilot project has aimed to prototype a Swedish model for documentation and recognition of individuals’ learning and competences through micro-merits. The work has been based on the European Commission’s initiative, which aimed to support quality, transparency and use of micro-merits throughout the EU, but adapted to Swedish conditions.
