This is a collaborative and involving conference about learning at workplaces, taking place on August 27 in Malmö, Sweden. The conference will explore new paths for working with internal competence development and learning at public and private workplaces.
The conference is based on a series of Nordic development and research projects conducted over the past 10 years.

- Collaborative, participant-driven, and rooted in practical challenges within workplace learning. The project participants have actively contributed to developing the necessary competencies to address their practical challenges.

The conference will be in English and Scandinavian languages.
It is free to attend the conference, as it is funded by the Nordic Network for Adult Learning, an organisation financed by the Nordic Council of Ministers. Participants are expected to pay for their own travel and hotel expenses in connection with the conference.

Keynotes and presenters
Ulrik Brandi
Ulrik’s is an Associate professor at Arhus University, Danish School of Education. His general field of research is a combination of lifelong learning and workplace learning studies. He is currently engaged in understanding how learning and development at work may be understood with a point of departure in the practices of work. Ulrik’s research themes include workplace and organisational learning and development, lifelong learning, knowledge sharing, and innovation.
Marie Kirstejn Aakjær
Marie is an associate professor and research director at the Center for Leadership and Organisation at University College Absalon. Marie’s research interests are at the intersection of learning, innovation, and organisational research. Marie’s educational background is in the field of design, and she often works with inspiration from design thinking in designing education, development processes, or research collaborations with companies or organisations.
Kristian Åsberg
Kristian Åsberg has in total 30 years of experience from L&D within Swedish Marines, Naval Academy, Scania, IKEA, Tetra Pak and Alfa Laval in senior roles. Kristian has been chairmen for the Swedish Learning Association for more than 15 years. Kristian have a wide global network and he has been a key note speaker at several international conferences.
Michele Tuccio
Michele Tuccio is an economist in the Directorate for Employment, Labour and Social Affairs of the OECD. His work focuses on the analysis of adult training policies and labour market trends, with a particular emphasis on inclusiveness and socio-economic integration. He is currently coordinating the portfolio of OECD technical support projects on the implementation of adult learning systems reforms, as well as the research programme on skills for the green transition.

Maria Marquard
Maria is working as a Special Consultant at Aarhus University/DPU and is the National Danish Coordinator for NVL.
Maria has worked with adult learning and competence development for 40 years in both non-formal and formal educational contexts.
Her main interest is developing collaborative experiences and holistic pedagogy and didactics for adult learning and competence development in heterogeneous groups. She regards diverse experiences as a particular driver in cross-professional, cross-sectorial and cross-national groups opening for innovative perspectives and practice, entrepreneurial mindsets and sustainable solutions.

Maria Jönsson, Learning and Development Manager, Husqvarna, Sweden
Maria has experience of working with learning at the workplace for more than 30 years within two multi-international companies on several positions.
Maria’s signum is: If you stop developing, those working for you will not develop either, so stay curious and open-minded.
Hans Mikkelsen
Hans works as a business consultant with a specific interest in aligning strategies with operational practices. He views workplace learning as a means to provide employees with essential learning and development opportunities, thereby supporting the process of strategic alignment. Additionally, Hans has been part of NVL for nearly 12 years, participating in R&D projects such as BIC Building Innovation Capacity and transformative learning circles. In parallel, he has worked as a development manager and program manager at a Danish University of Applied Science.
Session public workplaces
Jenny Lennhammar
During the past ten years, Jenny has been part of NVL, in various contexts where co-creation and learning have been the focus. She has been working with transformative learning circles and learning networks as a generic model for the co-creative competence development of adults in vulnerable environments – on their way to working life. In parallel, Jenny has worked within Region Gotland as a manager, process manager, business developer and project manager. Always with a focus on co-creation and participation.

Innovation gennem en nordisk model for læring – resultater fra BIC-projektet
Formålet med projektet var, dels at udvikle et redskab til at måle innovationskapacitet, og dels at undersøge om en nordisk model for samskabende, praksisnær læring kunne implementeres og fremme innovationskapacitet i produktionsvirksomheder.
Med læringscirkler kan man lære og lære at lære
Læringscirkler er en god mulighed for at sikre relevant og løbende udvikling af medarbejdere. Det kræver dog, at medarbejdere er klar til at involvere sig, og at arbejdspladsen sørger for, at det er muligt at bruge den nye viden, viser en evaluering af pilotprojekt, som NVL har gennemført.
NVL- Learning Labs – en bæredygtig nordisk model for innovationskompetence
Innovation er afgørende for, at virksomheder kan klare sig. Derfor samarbejder svenske og danske forskere, uddannelsesinstitutioner og virksomhederne Husqvarna og Easyfood om at udvikle en holdbar nordisk model for praksisnær kompetenceudvikling. Det sker i projektet Building Innovation Capacity.

Den svenske virksomhed Husqvarna er med i BIC-projektet. De foreløbige erfaringer viser, at det er en fordel, at ledere og medarbejdere samarbejder om at løse problemer, fortæller Maria Jönsson, der er learning & development manager.

The purpose of the conference
The conference aims to discuss and further develop knowledge, methods, and experiences generated in various research and development projects on internal competence development and learning in the Nordic countries.
As a participant, you will collaboratively work with innovative approaches for enhancing internal competence development and learning based on a Nordic approach to learning.
You will also be developing a prototype for workplace learning that you afterwards can further develop and implement for the benefit of employees and managers in your company or organisation.
The target group for the conference is:
- Representatives from the labour market and their umbrella organisations.
- Interest organisations representing municipalities, regions, small and medium-sized companies.
- Researchers working with organisational learning, adult learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship using collaborative, participatory approaches.
- Learning and development professionals from small and medium-sized companies and big organisations.
- HR professionals.
- Practitioners working with adult learning at workplaces.
It is important that all participants have experience with and work with adult learning in the workplace.
